Content will always be king when it comes to achieving successful marketing results online.

2017 is set to be an exciting year, and we are already seeing strong content trends.

What are 5 content trends you should be following in 2017?

Read on to find out...

1. Videos

In 2005, YouTube founders Chard Hurley and Steve Chan launched the Beta for the video service.

Since then it has grown to epic proportions and is something many of us take for granted.

One of the keys to its success is - people love watching video!

This is why many marketers and brands are using video as a way to enhance their content.

It is competitive and you will need to get your creativity flowing, but it will be worth it!

In addition to the traditional video content we are familiar with, LiveStreaming is gaining traction.

You can use a variety of different platforms, including Facebook, to show your viewers what you are doing, as you are doing it!

If you have been putting off video, now is the time to add it to your content marketing strategy!

2. Influencers

One of the biggest content trends is... influencers.

Popular influencers have spent time growing their followers and gaining their trust.

For example, Kylie Jenner has over 91 million Instagram followers. If she is saying something, people are going to be listening.

Use influencers as part of your content marketing strategy or learn the skills to become one yourself.

Influencers aren't going anywhere, so work that social media. It is all about interacting with your readers and building a strong voice for your brand.

3. Content Marketing

Content marketing is a content trend which is a "win, win" for both publisher and promoter.

Creating content which is informational with a subtle call to action gives potential shoppers what they want.

It is a more organic way of marketing and you should be using it as part of your SEO strategy.

4. Mobile Content

Do you ever stop to think how many people are accessing your content via their mobile devices?

Check your Google Analytics and you will see it is a growing content trend.

Content needs to be easy to read and mobile targeted.

You can no longer get away with content which only looks good on the desktop - it needs to be optimized for mobile use.

As most people have limited phone data, opt for videos which don't autoplay.

Keep your content fresh with a readable font, headings and shorter sentences.

It needs to be easy to read on a potentially tiny device!

5. Visual

In addition to the video content trend, it is important to have appealing images.

You want your content to be shared through social media. Pinterest was designed for image sharing and it can open up your content to a different audience.

Think about creating visual infographics, memes or quotes to create some buzz. Readers find these fun to share!

Have a high standard for images and use them to tell the story.

Follow these content trends in 2017 and you will be taking your content marketing to the next level.

Have you adapted your content lately? Are you using any of these strategies?

We would love to hear from you, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
